Copa América 2024 Expands to 16 Teams
Similar to the United States first hosting stint for the Copa América Centenario in 2016, the competitor field will expand to 16.
Tickets for Argentina vs. Canada in the 2024 Copa America at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford NJ are now available.
The 2024 Copa América will be the 47th edition of the international men's football championship of South America. It will be hosted by the United States for the second time, after hosting the Copa América Centenario in 2016.
The tournament will feature 16 teams, up from 12 in previous editions. The expansion is similar to the Copa América Centenario, which also featured 16 teams.
The United States will be joined by the 10 South American nations that are members of CONMEBOL (Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol): Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
The remaining six teams will be invited from other confederations. The invitations will likely go to teams from CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football), which is the governing body for football in North and Central America and the Caribbean.
The tournament will be played in 10 cities across the United States, including New York City, Los Angeles, and Miami.
